An Alcohol Addicted Person Goes To Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Treatment For His Alcoholism

Donald used to brag to his drinking buddies how he could remain employed at a difficult and full-time job and get inebriated almost every night. Regrettably, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for nearly five years, he started to observe numerous alcohol related difficulties.

As an illustration, he had a hard time getting up for work because he felt so worn-out when he got up. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald suffered from an awful hangover. In short, the mixture of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel inspired to go to work. To make things worse, around a week ago he got his third drunk driving arrest in the past eight weeks.

To further complicate things, at work his last two performance evaluations were not up to his usual high standards. And lastly, his three-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had gone downhill due to his depression, financial difficulties, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.

Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply began to look like he was in his late thirties. Regrettably, this is what irresponsible and hazardous drinking can do to an individual. And in all candor he comprehended that he was suffering from the adverse consequences of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to waste his life on abusive and excessive drinking. So initially he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Regrettably, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost all control after drinking his first alcoholic beverage. Since this was an incident that was repeated every single time he drank, this greatly worried him. In fact, he started to wonder if he was manifesting some of the stages of alcoholism.

After discussing his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and irresponsible drinking with his lady friend, he eventually decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he genuinely mentioned that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be displaying behavior that is illustrative of the different alcoholism stages, and that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then confirmed that drinking responsibly and in moderation does not work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His physician referred Donald to Doctor Rose, an alcohol and drug addiction psychiatrist, who motivated Donald to enter into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this treatment clinic.

After six months of rigorous rehab, Donald left the in-patient rehabilitation clinic and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and started working out two or three times per week. Within five months Donald was a new man. He was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, and most significant of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also did not resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more loving individual in his relationship with his lady friend. In brief, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
