Last month I visited Poland from England. Being an Englishman I obviously did not know the Polish language, consequently I encountered a lot of difficulties due to this. The difficulties began from the first day of my visit. The hotel I was staying in interestingly did not have any fluent English speaking attendants. Just the manager managed to talk to me. The tour therefore had this type of problems all the while.

Luckily my job was not of speaking to the Polish people much, so I was able to concentrate on my work. Occasionally such events happened to amuse me, that people can be so unwilling to learn the worldwide language. You can say that was true patriotism, but in the search of true patriotism they lost a few foreign currency which could have had certain impact on the overall economy!

But I was additionally ignorant to go into a foreign language nation with no knowledge of anything about them. Now that I have returned, I am studying the Polish language - at some level.
